Jamie Almeda’s 18th Birthday
Jamie Almeda’s 18th Birthday

I noticed a posting on the Blanche Macdonald Facebook page, from a makeup artist named Sladja, who I had actually worked under the key of, back when I was a student. It was for the Wearable Arts Awards 2009. Sladja was a fantastic lead artist and our team had such a great time with her, executing complex, high fashion designs, ready for the runway.

I was browsing through model mayhem casting calls and noticed a posting from a photographer named Jen Williams. Jen was in the midst of moving from Victoria Island to Vancouver city and was bringing her business with her. She was to be setting up a number of boudoir photo shoot marathons and wanted a makeup and hair artist to refer her clients to. After all, great hair and makeup execution will benefit all people involved!

I had planned to arrive early in the morning for round one, head off to my next job, and back to the studio right after for round two. Unfortunately the first model let us down but the second, Hazel Skye was still up for the fun!

Kim & Matt’s Engagement Photo Shoot
I had began contact with Kim when she had emailed me with an enquiry regarding hair and makeup services for her wedding which was coming up in August 2010. I met with Kim and her fiancee, Matt, to become well acquainted and we hit it off right away. A calm, relaxed, young couple. I couldn’t ask for more easy going clients. Myself and Matt working in the TV & Film industry, gave us lots to talk about!
Harbour Dance at The Vogue
Harbour Dance at The Vogue

I had been one of the makeup artists for Harbour Dance Centre for their live performance at the River Rock Casino in Richmond only a few months ago. The makeup for that performance was certainly different to that of The Vogue last week! The specification for stage makeup always calls for “more”…
