Circus Themed Photo Shoot
Circus Themed Photo Shoot

An early morning phone call from a client will never be ignored. Keely Remillard called asking if I happened to have availability that same day, to do her makeup for a circus themed photo shoot that she had planned last minute. As an experienced circus performer, she would normally do her own makeup, but who wants the stress of doing their own makeup anyway!

Vancouver Zombie Walk 2010
Vancouver Zombie Walk 2010

Unfortunately this year I had 3 weddings booked on the morning and early afternoon of the 21st August 2010, which was also the day of the Vancouver 2010 Zombie Walk. With the event beginning at 4pm and my weddings not wrapping up until 3pm, I thought I was going to miss out on all of the fun…

I was contacted by Brett Nielsen requesting my special fx artistry for the creation of a film script he had recently wrote for the Vancouver Zombie Film Festival 2010. Well, it isn’t often I am asked to use my special fx skills, so I was thrilled to have been asked to join the crew of this grosse and gorey one day film shoot set to take place on Cypruss Mountain.

I had contacted Ian Redd Photography months and months ago in early 2010. I had picked up his business card when working with another photographer, Aaron Chung, at a studio near main street in Vancouver. Although Ian responded to my email to politely let me know that he had a makeup and hair artist that he regularly works with and would not need me, I always made sure to send him a quick email every month or so, simply to keep in touch and keep me fresh in his mind. Well…my emails must have been some what memorable to him as he contacted me months later…

Have you booked your “Girls Day” yet?

What is “Girls Day”? After exchanging multiple emails and finally metting photographer, Kim Bellavance in person, I now know where this unique idea came from.

Lindsay & Dustin’s Wedding

The way I met Lindsay is living proof that working hard and doing a good job leads to great referrals and more work. It is all about impressing people and making them remember you and want to call you again.
I got in contact with Lindsay after the mother of a past client had requested to purchase my bridal makeup services as her wedding gift. What a great idea! I should start advertising this! What bride could turn down the gift of feeling beautiful and confident on her special day.

Helen Kung is a bride who had begun communication with me much earlier this year. She had noticed my name in one of the Jacqueline Conoir Winter/Fall Fashion Shows that I had been the key makeup artist for. She wanted me as her makeup and hair stylist for her wedding that was set to take place at the end of August 2010. I was of course, more than happy to take her on as a client.
