2012 was such a busy year which unfortunately meant I wasn’t able to find the time to get creative and collaborate with other artists in the city like I would of done any other year. In December, when my schedule had quietened down from the craziness of summer, Brian Noppe (photographer) and Melissa Stefanopoulos (model) contacted me to ask if I would be interested in being the hair and makeup artist on set of their up and coming collaborative photo shoot. I was thrilled to be a participant of this project and excited to experiment with the neglected eye shadows in my kit.
When I took a look through Melissa’s portfolio online I noticed all of her work is beauty and glamour and so I decided to create editorial makeup and hair looks that would stay within those realms, but to always make sure she looked and felt beautiful in each of the looks. It takes a good artist to create a wacky makeup look and still make the model look insanely attractive.
I was excited to make up Melissa in a way that no other artist has done before. I absolutely love the first look. The big and bouncy hair contrasts very well with the punchy blue eye shadow and elegant black dress that Melissa wore. I just love how the entire look is very black and white, apart from her eyes! The focus is totally on her eyes.
For the 2nd look, I wanted to style Melissa’s hair in an updo. I noticed that she had very few images of her hair up in her portfolio. I always like to give models something new to showcase. I love this loose, modern and messy french twist on Melissa.
This shoot was so much fun, Melissa was such a trooper and Brian kept the mood up with his ridiculous jokes.
