Faye Smith joins Icon Salon BHTC’s of The Real Housewives of Vancouver
When Chau Vo (the owner of Icon Hair Lounge located in downtown Vancouver) asked me to join the team behind the scenes of a fashion show that would become a scene in the reality TV show, The Real Housewives of Vancouver, I was more than delighted to accept!
Chau request I be a part of Icon backstage hair styling team, as well as being his personal makeup and body artist. Chau would be making a guest appearance in the fashion show, wearing one hell of an eye catching outfit! Showing off with some airbrush body art was a must!
Chau and I met for a trial run of the airbrush body art. “Trial and error” is the only way to ensure everything will look right and be applied smoothly! Stress free fashion shows are impossible, but precautionary actions can certainly minimise the chaos!
On the day of the fashion show, the Icon team arrive with hours to spare! The models showed up and we whipped their hair up into European pub inspired hair-dos: “the bun on the top of your head”. A smooth and simple job by the hair team. If there are no problems at a fashion show…then it wasn’t a real fashion show!
Of course, a problem: no makeup artist!!! A mix up with schedules meant that no makeup artist showed up! Now…I am a makeup artist myself…but with no makeup kit…I am useless!!! Luckily, some strings were pulled and a very talented artist showed up with her airbrush. It was a tight squeeze but the models had a complete look right on time for the beginning of the fashion show!
It was an absolute pleasure working with everyone and getting the chance to bump into some familiar faces. Numa Models, you got some hot girlies! Mia and Jody Claman, thank you for having us behind the scenes of your fashion show, you ladies rock!
