Harmony & Nicky’s Engagement Photo Shoot
Harmony Cheung had contacted me a while back enquiring about hair and makeup services for her upcoming wedding. We began exchanging emails dicussing her booking. As one of my previous blogs speak about, I suggest to my brides that they make the most of the hair and makeup applied on the consultation. I have noticed that engagement or boudoir photo shoots are often a part of many photographers wedding packages these days so I suggest holding the consultation a few hours before this photo shoot is due. This way you can see how the makeup “photographs”.
I was glad to hear from Harmony, that Kat and Dan from Stone Photo Photography, would be their photographer. I always seem to bump into Stone Photo. My second ever bridal booking in Vancouver had the same photographer for their wedding. The photographs were amazing and even made a two page magazine spread in Urban Wedding Magazine! My first ever magazine spread! I actually contacted Urban Wedding enquiring about working with them. They noticed my name in their Magazine and took me on as one of their makeup and hair artists. A fantastic chain reaction!
For Harmony’s makeup, she wanted a simple, natural look. Clean and good for the day time. A lip colour that won’t come off when the “I do’s” get spoken and the kiss comes next. I kept the skin flawless and natural with a light blush. Natural shape to the brows. A subtle silver and light grey shadow. Just a touch of black pencil eye liner to define the eyes, smudged out to blend at either end. I always curl the lashes and a apply water proof mascara as tears are always to be expected on these days! My favourite lipgloss for brides from Estee Lauder, completed the perfect “no makeup, makeup” look. I don’t think she could look any more flawless than that!
