Vancouver Fashion Showcase Contest – The Winner Revealed!
I was thrilled to rekindle with an old friend, Florence Leung, as she contacted me regarding a makeup donation to a contest she would be holding for Vancouver Fashion Showcase. What is Fashion Showcase?
Fashion Showcase is a semi-annual event showcasing the local fashion community in Vancouver. The events include exposure to 30 retailers and boutiques over the course of a weekend as well as access to a kickoff party, various exclusive events and discounts at the featured boutiques and retailers.
This contest was to be launched on the Vancouver Fashion Showcase blog. A new contest would be released every day! This was a great way to generate exposure for the new website and get the public interested. There were contests to win a variety of services such as spa days, meals at restaurants, personal stylist services and more! I decided to increase the value and experience of the prize I would be donating. This was when I contacted Brandon Hart, a wonderful photographer I had recently began working with.
I set up a meeting with myself, Brandon, Florence and her team, to discuss the details of the contest we would be donating our services to. We decided to have the public vote for the winner in a style competition. The entrants would be a selection of staff at a number of Gastown’s fashion clothing stores. Their image would be posted in a facebook album for the public to choose the winner. And the winner is…
Lucky winner, Cami Rush, was selected to win a 3hr photoshoot with Faye Smith Makeup & Hair and Brandon Hart Photography. She would get to enjoy the super star experience of getting her hair and makeup styled, followed by a fun photoshoot and 6 edited images to take home and show off to her friends. You can see Cami’s final images in this blog as well as some backstage snap shots taken by Florence Leung who joined us at the shoot.
It was absolutely amazing to see the excitement in Cami. This is an experience she had always dreamed of. Today, she was a celebrity! She gave me free range with styling her hair and makeup, assuring me she would like what ever I did. Her wardrobe varied from 20’s flapper style dresses to hippie skinny jeans and rug-like capes. I needed to give her a look that was casual…yet glamorous. And funky, to match her cool style!
As we begun to shoot, it was normal for Cami to be a little nervous. I have been in front of the camera before and I just freeze up! I knew exactly how she was feeling. I stood back and let Brandon work his magic. He took the time to subtly suck the shyness out of her and allow Cami to loosen up and have fun! By the end of the shoot she was blowing kisses, twirling her dress around, swinging her cape in the air, laughing…she was having a blast! We all had a blast! What we had was a “fun” experience, for all involved. It was a pleasure to spend this time with Cami and I am very proud of the images we produced. Cami, I hope your proud to! You look amazing!
